On the afternoon of June 15th, Prof. Sebastian Marchand from the CERDI of University Clermont Auvergne in Clermont-Ferrand, France, held a symposium entitled " The understanding of agriculture-environment nexus" at Minta House 103. The symposium was attended by teachers and students from the Institute of Economics and Finance, Nanjing Audit University.
First of all, Professor Sebastian Marchand pointed out that the existing agricultural problem, like “food shortage" "Farmer poverty" "environmental unfriendly", leading to bottlenecks in agriculture development. Secondly, Associate Professor Sebastian Marchand suggested that sustainable intensification of agricultural production is the best way to solve the existing predicament. He pointed out that the ecosystem services provided by the natural environment are the basis for the development of agriculture. The goal of sustainable intensive agricultural development is to protect the existing ecosystem and use the existing ecosystem services to provide some ecosystem services while agricultural production. Finally, Associate Professor Sebastian Marchand discussed with us about some topics such as The agricultural difference between China and France, genetically modified food development.
The symposium lasted for an hour and a half, and Sebastian Marchand's speech was closely related to the ecological protection of agricultural production and economical development. It was well received by teachers and students.
