Call for Papers and Special Issue on Rethinking 40 years of China's Economic and Financial Development

China has become the world’s largest emerging economy after 40 years of Reform and Opening-up. Now the Chinese economy has stepped into a new era; the economic structure, economic system and development continue to go through significant changes. China faces many challenges on economic and financial development such as the middle-income trap, regional disparities, environmental pollutions, income inequality, and anti-globalization. President Xi Jinping stated that China’s economic development should switch to the higher-quality mode. Accordingly, strategies and policies have been launched, including the supply-side structural reforms, belt and road initiative, high-quality development, etc. This raises new questions for scholars as well as for policymakers. It is of great significance to understand the evolution of Chinese economy and its impacts on global economies.

Under this background, the Institute of Economics and Finance (IEF) of Nanjing Audit University and the Adam Smith Business School of University of Glasgow are organising an international conference on Chinese economic and financial development. We would like to invite scholars, at home and abroad, to disseminate their research on China's economic and financial development over the past 40 years and its interaction with the world economy in the past and future, to be published in a special issue of Economic modelling.
