On 11 September, the IEF Workshop for the 2025–2026 Autumn Semester was successfully held in Meeting Room 902 of the Comprehensive Building at the Mochou Campus of Nanjing Audit University. The workshop brought together experts and scholars from domestic and overseas universities as well as faculty members of the Institute to conduct in-depth discussions on frontier topics including productivity, digitalisation, taxation, capital markets, and corporate governance. It aimed to advance cooperation and development in economics and finance research through high-level academic exchange.

Professor Sun Yang, Dean of the Institute, warmly welcomed all participants and stressed the significance of the workshop for promoting academic exchange in economics and finance and inspiring new research ideas.

The workshop invited Professor Sushanta Mallick of Queen Mary University of London and Professor Yang Yong of Shanghai Polytechnic University to deliver keynote speeches. Professor Mallick presented his latest research findings in "Does productivity growth boost domestic savings? Causal evidence using transitions", while Professor Yang Yong explored in depth "International joint ventures in the digital sector and foreign subsidiary performance: Does cultural distance matter?" Both presentations sparked lively discussion among the participants.

During the working paper session, several young faculty members of the Institute shared their latest research:

Wang Juyang presented "How do indirect tax incentives affect productivity through service outsourcing? Firm evidence from China", examining the effects of tax policy on Chinese manufacturing firms.

Yue Xuanyu presented "Do stakeholders force companies to be green? Evidence from developed countries", seeking to identify the stakeholders that influence corporate environmental performance and the channels through which they do so.

Zhan Song presented "Government intervention and ultimate control transfer: Evidence from China", discussing government intervention and the transfer of ultimate control in listed companies.

Sun Mutian presented "Learning from penalties: Internal control improvements following the revised securities law", exploring the positive effects of outcome-oriented policy on firms' internal governance.

The workshop provided a high-level academic exchange platform for the Institute's faculty and promoted cross-disciplinary integration across different research fields. Through keynote speeches and paper discussions, participants not only presented their latest research findings but also engaged in thought-provoking discussions on real-world economic and financial issues.
